# Echo

Echo is what flows back. There are exactly two:

- **Your Echo** belongs to a holder. It holds your tokens and uses their rewards to buy you more.
- **Protocol Echo** belongs to the protocol. It uses protocol fees to buy $SIGNAL.

## Your Echo

Some tokens that pay their holders have an **Echo** tab on the ticket. In the site's words:

> Echo holds your SYMBOL. Its rewards buy more SYMBOL. Take out any time.

How it works:

1. **Add.** Put in HYPE, and Echo buys the token at the pool price and holds it for you. Or put in tokens you already hold.
2. **It compounds.** The rewards that holding earns are collected, and when enough has collected, Echo buys more of the token with them. That is counted as "bought for you".
3. **Take out.** Any time, as the token.

Things to know:

- Echo exists only on tokens whose launch it admits. A token whose fees go to its creator or to a burn has no holder rewards to compound, and no Echo tab.
- It has a minimum per deposit and a cap. When it is full, it says so.
- No yearly rate is shown, because none is promised. What Echo buys depends on what the token's trading earns.
- **Echo my buys** (the gear on the ticket) sends your future buys of that token straight into Echo. The button then reads "Buy SYMBOL into Echo".
- A sale larger than what sits in your wallet takes the rest out of Echo first, in the same flow.
- If the buy route stops answering, buys go on hold; rewards stay in Echo and taking out stays open. If Echo is paused, adding and buys pause; your tokens stay put and taking out stays open.

Nothing moves until your wallet confirms. Gas is extra.

## Protocol Echo

The **Protocol Echo** page (in the footer, and on $SIGNAL's own page) shows it live from the chain. In the site's words:

> Protocol fees from Signal's HYPE pools buy $SIGNAL on the open market, in small slices.

Protocol fees in HYPE are paid to Protocol Echo, which splits them across three buyers. Each buys $SIGNAL on the open market:

| Share of the HYPE | The $SIGNAL it buys goes to |
| --- | --- |
| 70% | The dead address (**Burned**) |
| 20% | A protocol reserve wallet (**Reserve**) |
| 10% | The loss-relief wallet (**Relief**), which funds [relief](rewards.md#relief) |

The protocol's own fees taken in $SIGNAL are sent to the dead address with no buying.

Read this part carefully:

- **It is not "all fees are burned."** Seven tenths of the HYPE buys $SIGNAL for the dead address. The rest buys $SIGNAL for a reserve wallet and for relief.
- **It is not every fee.** It covers protocol fees from the Signal launchpad's HYPE pools from its start block. Fees held in other assets, and some earlier pools, are outside it. The page states the exact scope under Contracts.
- **The Signal team's key can pause, redirect or withdraw any part of it at any time.** There is no timelock. The page shows the state of each buyer; one can read "paused", "sent somewhere new" or "covering costs first".
- What it has done is on the page: every buy, with its transaction.

Protocol Echo is a description of what a set of contracts does today. It is not a promise about the price of $SIGNAL or about what the protocol will do tomorrow.
