# Fees

Fees depend on the token. Read its own terms on its page. Signal's only fee is a share of the trading fee built into tokens launched on Signal; trading a token launched elsewhere pays Signal nothing, beyond the Helix fee on a cross-chain order.

## What the ticket shows

Before you confirm, the ticket's cost line gives the trade's whole cost in dollars and percent, split into what it can prove: **fees**, **tax**, **opening fee**, **price impact** and **gas**. That line is the simplest way to know what a trade costs. The sections below explain where each part comes from.

## Signal v4 tokens

Every trade in a Signal v4 pool pays a fee to the token's hook, in the asset the token trades against.

| Charge | Size | When |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The fee | 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% or 5%, set at launch | Every buy and sale |
| Buy tax, sell tax | Up to 5% each, if the launch set one | Buys, or sales |
| Size fee | Up to 5% more, if set | A trade large against the pool |
| Deviation fee | Up to 5% more, if set | A trade that pushes the price away from its average |
| Opening fee | Starts as high as 99% and falls to the base, if set | Every buy **and sale** in the launch's first minutes, 90 at most |
| Network gas | The chain's charge | Every transaction, including one that reverts |

The fee, the larger tax, the size fee and the deviation fee together can never exceed **15%**. Only the opening fee can be higher, and only until its clock ends.

Wallet-to-wallet transfers are never charged.

**Who gets it.** Signal's share comes first, out of every fee. The launcher divides the rest between holders, the creator, a buyback and burn, and locked liquidity, as the token's page shows. That division can be re-pointed later with 24 hours' notice; the rates cannot change. See [Signal v4 launches](signal-v4.md).

**A pair asset with its own cut.** A token that trades against an asset which taxes its own transfers carries that asset's cut as well. PSTR keeps 10% of every move in and out. The ticket shows it as "tax".

## Cross-chain orders

Paying for a coin on one chain with money on another goes through Relay. The fees figure on that ticket includes Relay's fee, Signal's Helix fee and gas on both sides.

## Earlier launch types

Separate the token's tax from the exchange fee, conversion fee, reward performance fee and network gas.

| Charge | Applies to |
| --- | --- |
| Curve token trade tax | Buys and sells of the taxed token, before and after graduation |
| Curve platform fee | A separate curve charge if the token's stored terms specify one; current standard rows specify zero |
| Exchange pool fee | Pool swaps; separate from a graduated Curve token's trade tax |
| Conversion cost | A route that swaps the input or payout into another asset |
| Perp funding and venue trading costs | The reward position on HyperCore |
| Perp performance fee | Positive gains in each redeemed batch under its snapshotted terms |
| Network gas | On-chain transactions, including approvals and reverted transactions |

### Standard spot Curve allocation

The current standard launch settings split the collected trade tax into **45% holder rewards, 45% buyback/burn allocation and 10% Signal**. These are shares of the tax, not of the whole trade.

For a 1% tax on a 100-unit taxable amount, the tax is 1 unit: 0.45 for holders, 0.45 for burns and 0.10 for Signal, before any later conversion or rounding effects. Before graduation, the burn allocation waits in the pairing asset; after a pool is available it can buy and burn tokens.

The configuration expresses this in two stages: `protocol_tax_bps = 1000` removes 10% of the tax, then `dividend_bps = 5000` and `burn_bps = 5000` divide the remaining 90%. Do not display those defaults as 50% + 50% + 10%.

### Classic

Project X Classic currently offers 1% and 2% pool swap fee choices. The fee election determines the creator or holder share; venue deductions and the actual collected amount matter. `/api/pad/terms` describes current Classic defaults, not every historical token or Curve token. Hybra uses its own pool state and fee rules.

Current Classic defaults allocate **70% of collected LP fees to the elected creator/holder recipient and 30% to Signal**. Hybra's supported HYBR holder route also uses a 70% holder allocation. These percentages apply to collectible fees after venue deductions, not to the full trade value; inspect each token's recorded terms.

### Perp rewards

The standard performance fee is **10% of positive gains in each redeemed batch**. Batches fix their own fee terms; inspect those terms. It is not a promise of charging only on net profit across all your trades or all batches. A losing batch has no positive-gain performance fee, but ordinary trading, funding, conversion and gas costs can still apply.

Separately, a permissionless cash push by an outside caller after the ledger's 10-minute grace period can deduct a **0.1% caller bounty, capped at 2 USDC per holder per push**. Normal keeper pushes and the holder's own `claim(token)` do not deduct this bounty. See [cash-out handling](perp-rewards.md#selling-and-cashing-out).

## Units

`100` basis points means 1%; `10000` basis points means 100%. Classic pool-fee values use parts per million: `10000` means 1%, and `20000` means 2%. Never interpret both scales as interchangeable.
